Maybe a small amount of Health and Mana on-hit for one Blessing, basic Resistances, just stats like that?Īgain, just a rough concept, curious what you guys would think, or if you have any more interesting ideas for what a "Blessing" might be, or even just doing a different type of Mercenary entirely? Unsure what might be reasonable, competitive but not too competitive options. Like, if you got "Blessing of Malthael" there might be a statue of an angelic Malthael, and your merc gear is presented more as an "offering", empowering your Blessing in some capacity. It could really be anything, and could even still have equipment involved. So I thought, since Act 4 is the only Act without its own unique Mercenary, what if Tyrael (who rezzes them, just like a normal merc vendor) offers "Blessings" in lieu of of them? Fault memory, I suppose, but honestly I think I would prefer just playing "solo", not having to worry about "where is my dude, is he standing somewhere stupid again?". I'm gonna be honest I don't remember hating hirelings/mercenaries nearly this much in the old game. Inb4 “What about phase blades” Phase blades are trash and you know it.Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Thread Since our A5 mer can’t dual wield 2-hander weapons like a barbarian, there’s extremely limited options.Īnd yet again, the A2 merc swings in with polearms being extremely diverse and compatible for multiple runewords because it can have up to 6 sockets. That A5 diversity is overshadowed by the merc’s lack of access to viable runewords/weapons.Ĭhugging along here - another huge reason I failed to mention is that a few runewords require 5 sockets which cuts out all useful 1 handed swords. Skill kit helps keep them from being overwhelmed but ultimately relies on them being able to kill fast enough to stay alive vs the A2 merc being durable/tanky and keeping themselves alive with great single target focus.Ī2 Merc focuses on defense first, offense second, and enables you to kill monsters.Ī5 Merc focuses on offense first, sustain second, and kills along with you. Not tanky, but great sustain (offensive is a good defense approach). The fact that the A5 merc can dual wield is amazing. Just tired of seeing the A2 merc meta on virtually every single class/skill combo. Not suggesting we have all mercs offer the exact same thing. And I’m not even saying that A2 merc can’t be meta with certain class/skill combos.
